Domestic and Family Violence (DFV)

During her time at JewishCare, Rada was coordinator and a key facilitator of the LoveBites program at schools in the eastern suburbs (prior to this education becoming mandatory as part of school curriculum). LoveBites is a nationally recognized in-school violence prevention program that focuses on sexual assault, consent and understanding different types of abuse and DFV. Rada has delivered this program to over 1500 students.

Rada runs DFV workshops: recognise, respond, and refer to help increase awareness and educate community about the nuances, complexities and impacts of DFV, as well as help them identify manipulative behaviours used to gain power and control over someone. The prevalence on DFV in every community is often under-recorded. At some point in time, everyone is touched by DFV (personally, or a family member, friend, or a colleague).

During her 11 years at JewishCare NSW, Rada coordinated the domestic violence program. She worked as a DFV counsellor/caseworker, as well as and in the areas of prevention and awareness. Rada was on the monthly roster for the Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS Sydney) at Waverly court, supporting women in their ADVO matters. She also was an active member of the Eastern Suburbs Domestic Violence Network (ESDVN) for over 10 years and collaborated with other DFV services in the East to increase awareness.

At JewishCare Rada worked with women, children, and male victims of DFV but also with many men who were issued with ADVOs.

Rada was also the project manager for many of JewishCare’s DFV prevention and awareness campaign and events (including White Ribbon and the No Abuse campaign), public speaking, and fundraising.

*** Rada is an approved counsellor with Victims Services NSW ***
